Great start over fences for On The Way Out
Those with long memories will recall Two Sweets impressively scoring in a Lismore point-to-point in 1999 before going on to land three on the track and that chasing background shone through in her son On The Way Out who impressed on his fencing bow under Andrew McNamara in the Trinity College Dublin Horseracing Society Beginners Chase at Punchestown.
From some way out the white face of On The Way Out was catching the eye travelling well and he asserted from the last to comfortably beat favourite Stonemaster by four and a quarter lengths.
John Kiely trains On The Way Out for Conor Lannen and the Waterford handler said: "That's a nice start. He was always a class horse but he went up too quick in the handicap over hurdles. Hopefully there won't be a repeat.
"He jumped well and to do that around here is not that easy. He did a little bit of schooling last year before he was let off. We'll take it step by step with him now."
