Davy Russell enjoyed probably the highest point of his illustrious career with a 3,926/1 treble at Cheltenham yesterday highlighted by the Gold Cup victory of Lord Windermere, and the champion jockey has bright prospects of adding to his tally as domestic jumping action returns at Limerick this afternoon.
Russell rides a trio of Charles Byrnes' horses in the opening three maiden hurdles and has sound prospects on all three.
Byrnes himself failed to add to his haul of three Cheltenham winners this week, with Trifolium filling third place in the Arkle Chase, and Solwhit's trainer sends out Kerrieonvic Feenakilmeedy and Lord Adare in the first three events.
Kerrieonvic has been running consistently well including a second to Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle winner Don Poli at Thurles, and looks to have found a suitable opportunity in the Student Raceday 9th & 10th April Maiden Hurdle.
Feenakilmeedy blundered away her chance early on at Fairyhouse last time but has the opportunity to make amends in the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Lord Adare, successful on his debut in a bumper at this venue at Christmas, bids to make a winning hurdle debut in the Tote Jackpot (C & G) Maiden Hurdle and appears to have solid claims in a race in which Jim Dreaper introduces point-to-point winner Shake It Up
That gelding himself is also unbeaten, having won a point at Kinsale last June.
Russell completes his book of rides on the Pat Fahy-trained Mount Gunnery in the Family Day 30th March Handicap Hurdle.
The seven-race card in Limerick gets underway at 2pm, and the going is officially heavy (soft in places).
