The well-backed Not For Burning produced a gutsy front-running performance to land the spoils in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.
Robbie Power forced the pace in the two-and-a-half mile contest and had his rivals on the stretch turning for home.
2/1 favourite Emcon gave chase but despite getting closer over the last couldn’t peg back the ‘Sneezy’ Foster-trained winner, who dug deep on the run-in to record a two length success.
Not For Burning had been beaten a long way on her return to action at Naas last month in a hot beginners chase won by Road To Respect.
Improvement was obviously expected today with the winner backed from 9/1 this morning into 4/1 on course.
"She loves jumping and it won the race for her. The ground was too quick and this distance is a bit short for her but puppy (Power) let her gallop and jump which is what she does best,” said Foster.
"I saw this race and felt it was a good opportunity. It will be interesting to see what the handicapper does.
"I have three runners today and they are all sisters which must be a first for Irish racing. Our Lady Lucy runs in the maiden hurdle and Too Many Notes is in the handicap hurdle."
