Dubai Prince a name to remember
Dermot Weld introduced a smart newcomer in the shape of Dubai Prince (7/2 in the morning into 6/4) winner of the concluding Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Gowran.
Second market choice Obligation made the running but he was headed about two furlongs out by the Pat Smullen ridden length victor carrying the Sheikh Mohammed silks. He was chased through at the finish by the promising first-timer from Ballydoyle, Seville
Weld commented afterwards: "He is a nice colt by a very good sire. I think you'll find that was a very decent maiden. Anytime you get extreme distances like fourteen lengths back to the fourth in a big field you can be sure it was a good race and the Ballydoyle horses (Seville and Obligation) look decent.
"I like this horse and he'll appreciate better ground. I'll speak to John Ferguson but I wouldn't mind running him again this year - at Stakes level."
