Clare Harrier (10/3) just held off the late challenge of Lord Kenmare as he took the second division of Ladbrokes Home Of Football Handicap, providing his jockey Seamie Heffernan with a double on the card (scored earlier aboard American Girl .
Trained by David Geraghty, the seven-year-old son of Medecis finished eight lengths second to Horsewithnoname over the course and distance last month, but he comfortably reserved the form with that fellow this evening. Sin Miedo attempted to steal the race from the front under Kate Harrington, but he tired in the home straight and was reeled in by Cristy's Call at the furlong pole.
Clare Harrier, who was on the rail, then found a bit extra in the closing stages, hitting the front in the final 100 yards, before holding off the challenge of Lord Kenmare (12/1), under Shane Foley for Mick Halford, by a head.
Cristy’s Call, who was 5/2 this morning with Paddy Power, went off the 2/1 favourite under Michael Hussey for Gavin Cromwell and he finished a further half a length back in third.
David Geraghty said afterwards: "He has got a great record around here, that is his third win and he has three seconds here as well.
"He is consistent and he takes a fair bit of work. He will be up again here in the next few weeks we will see what comes up for him.
"I train in Ardcath, Co Meath and he is the only horse I have in at the minute."
