Dempsey's Getaway filly scores maiden success

First reserve Dee's Getaway (20/1) took advantage of favourable race conditions when winning the Students Raceday October 10th Maiden Hurdle at Tramore today, for jockey Charlie O'Dwyer and trainer Philip Dempsey
The Getaway-sired four-year-old filly was well beaten in four prior runs but today's race was confined to previously unplaced maidens and, with O'Dwyer's 5lb claim, scored a hard-fought half-length success from He's Ultimate which conceded 15lb.
Trainer Dempsey reported “she is well-bred and the step-up in trip to 2m5f suited her. She is only four, is a grand filly and we won't be in any great rush with her.
“We were hoping she'd run well, she handled the ground well and is a nice mover. Her owner David L'Estrange is a great supporter of ours."
