Coumshingaun followed up her Listowel maiden win with a good performance in the Sherry Fitzgerald Country Homes Handicap at the Curragh.
An 8-race maiden prior to last time, she had run with credit in some decent maidens and handicaps earlier in her career. Making all to win at the County Kerry racecourse, she improved for that confidence booster and looked a filly to follow reverting back into handicap company.
Johnny Levins, whose Prisoners Dilemma finished second in a listed race here yesterday, supplied the second and third horses home in Nordic Passage and Shawaamekh
“We're very happy with her, we were 3lb out (of the handicap) but she was in great form. Mark Cahill has been riding her out at home and said we had to go and it worked out well,” said Coleman.
“Jamie was good on her, he's a good young kid.
“We thought she was a good filly last year but she wasn't getting home over seven and a mile in her maidens.
“She's bred to stay a mile plus but once we dropped her back to six she's been a different filly.
“I thought she'd win in Gowran over seven but she didn't go home but she's won her last two runs and she's going the right way.
“We thought she was a stakes filly last year and we couldn't get our head around it, but my horses weren't running great last year. She just doesn't stay.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
