Second favourite Cooldine Bog dictated from the front and that approach took him all the way to a four and a quarter length victory in the opening Summer Party Pack Discount Group Booking Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan.

With odds-on market-leader Koroleva proving a disappointment in fourth place, Cooldine Bog was given most to do by All For Nothing and Ozzie's Way (a neck back in third), but there was no living with the Andy Slattery-trained and Cathal Landers-ridden winner from the last.

Brian Slattery, brother and assistant to Andy, said: "He's been unlucky in a couple of maiden hurdles and we probably just ran into a weak one today.

"He's owned by my mother and father and Sean Hennessy.

"We haven't any lofty expectations but we're delighted he won for us. We'll find a little handicap somewhere, although he's on the go a while now and is getting very near a holiday. We'll bring him back for beginners chases after that."

The Stewards fined R.P. McNamara, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Dasmyhoss, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Dasmyhoss in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (iv).

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Koroleva, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
