David Wachman’s unraced Come To Heel (7/1) came through nicely to cut down Candy Apples and Treadstone in the six furlong juvenile maiden at Cork.

Wachman was evidently determined to win this race as he had three due to go to post in the nine-runner contest.

However, Insight was scratched which left the trainer with Come To Heel and Represent Yourself (also on debut).

Treadstone and Candy Apples disputed the lead throughout, as Come To Heel raced a couple of lengths behind in third.

Billy Lee, on board Come To Heel, was travelling sweetly though and pushed her out past the two frontrunners deep inside the final furlong to win by half a length.

“She’s a nice filly. Billy was very cool and gave her a nice introduction. She was ready to start off. Billy liked her and she was ready to start and he’s a pretty good judge,” David Wachman said.

“She won a shade snugly and will step up to stakes company now.”

Candy Apples (2/1) filled the runner-up berth for the third time in-a-row, a nose in front of well-backed 11/8 favourite Treadstone (9/4 this morning).

Wachman's other runner Represent Yourself was sixth.
