Away from the glamour of Champions Weekend, Kevin Coleman struck gold at Bath on Sunday afternoon, claiming the Blackmore Building Contractors Restricted Maiden Stakes with Annie Edson Taylor

A 20,000 pound yearling purchase, the Mayson bay was placed twice as a juvenile, again having to settle for minor honours when third on her return to action at Cork in May.

Well beaten into second when last seen on heavy ground at Ffos Las, she was widely expected to make the breakthrough at the Somerset venue.

Dropping back in trip to five-furlongs for the first time, the 70-rated three-year-old was sent off the well-backed 4/9 favourite (from 4/5) under Rob Hornby.

Settled in second, the Atomic Racing-owned victor was switched to the outer with just under two-furlongs to go.

Ridden from the furlong pole, she soon challenged the front-running All Ways Glamourous (3/1) and after a good scrap in the closing stages, there was just a neck between them at the line.

With this five-runner affair a Great British Bonus contest, the winner picked up an additional 10,000 pounds on account of being a filly bred in the UK.
