No Trouble made a winning debut for new connections at Dundalk today as jockey Ross Coakley completed a double on the Noel Kelly trained gelding in the second division of the Fundraise At Dundalk Handicap.
The son of No Nay Never was a winner for previous trainer Jerry Cosgrave last November and having filled second place at the Co Louth course on January 20, was subsequently bought by owner Cathal McGuckin to join trainer Kelly.
Today No Trouble beat runner-up Caronda by two and three parts of a length and afterwards trainer Kelly reported “he came to the yard, we sweetened him up and he looked in good form during the week.
“He's a grand horse and there is no reason why he couldn't step up in trip again the way he stayed on there. I think he'd get a mile-and-six no bother or even two miles.
“I bought him to go hurdling but I thought we'd try and get a win with him on the Flat first.
“He has a lovely bit of size, a smashing horse. We've already schooled him over hurdles and he's a serious horse to jump.”
Jockey Coakley had, half-an-hour earlier, won the opening 'split' of the race with the Johnny Hassett trained Morph Speed
