The Henry De Bromhead trained, Gigginstown House Stud owned Cinema De Quartier (15/8) scored a wide margin win in the opening Book At www.kilbegganraces.com Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan today, scoring easily under jockey Bryan Cooper.
Seventeen length runner-up Monarch was the well backed even money favourite but the French bred winner, runner-up in a Punchestown maiden hurdle on his previous start last month, readily brushed him aside from the second last flight and won impressively.
Afterwards Cooper stated “we didn't know much about him before Punchestown but he seems to come alive when he sees a hurdle. He's very lazy at home but I'd say he's an above average summer horse.
"He was a bit untidy the last day but his jumping was very quick today."
