Wayne Lordan rode his 50th winner of the season on board Cape Of Approval as the son of Cape Cross overcame top weight in the six furlong handicap for three-year-olds at Cork.

The 5/2 favourite, with ten stone on his back, led inside the final furlong and beat Angel Bright (6/1) by a length and three parts. It was a further length and a half back to 3/1 shot The Ring Is King in third.

Fozzy Stack, assistant trainer to his father Tommy Stack, said: “He did it well. He was only broken around this time last last year so he’s more like two-years-old.

“He’ll probably have one more run and it might be in a premier handicap somewhere.

“He’s a big horse. He’ll improve away for next year.”

Cape Of Approval has shown good form since being dropped to sprinting trips. He was second at the Curragh over six furlongs and then won a Tipperary five furlong maiden last time out.
