Thankfully Ruby Walsh and Wicklow Brave (a 2/7 shot) were quickly up after their fall at the fourth in the Miriam Hand 'Play In Pink Fundraiser' Hurdle at Galway, a race that saw a good day get better for trainer Colin Bowe and rider Sean Flanagan. Their Sweet Home Chicago took the spoils in the three miler.
Wexford pair Bowe and Flanagan combined to land the opener with Western Victory whilst Noel Meade's stable jockey landed race three for his boss on Tout Est Permis
Bringing up the second hat-trick of his career, Flanagan got Clonmel winner Sweet Home Chicago home to supplement those gains from 24 days back, beating Val De Ferbet in the end by nine lengths.
"Colin (Bowe) said he takes a little while to warm into himself and I was content enough poking along," reported Flanagan.
"Without doubt Wicklow Brave was the one to beat and when he fell I thought 'hmm, what could I rob here' and I knew if I held on to him at the bottom of the hill he would stay going to the line.
"He has done it really well and it's great to win a race for this cause. Wearing the pink breeches is a thing that could be done plenty more for good causes like this."
Owing to the low lying sun, the Stewards granted permission for the omission of the third hurdle from this race.
