Alan Corcoran's Morning Mix South East radio show didn't make for happy listening for Wexford hurling supporters last Monday morning, as their weekend eclipse at the hands of Kilkenny was dissected. However, a Teofilo colt of the same name could be on the way to big things if his seven and a half length win in the finale at the Curragh is anything to go by.
Bringing up a double for proud Wexford man, Jim Bolger, and his son in law and stable jockey Kevin Manning, Morning Mix wasn't long about assuming the pace-setting position in this mile and a quarter Clear Your Clutter With DoneDeal EBF Maiden.
Second to Derby contender Radanpour at Leopardstown last time, Morning Mix certainly paid that Weld runner a nice compliment as he simply powered away from over two furlongs out, and despite wandering slightly the three-year-old registered a thoroughly comprehensive win.
Bolger, half-an-hour earlier a winner with Algonquin said of the winner, an 11/10 favourite: "They have wanted him from all over the world since Leopardstown. People are already viewing him as a Melbourne Cup horse. He's definitely a nice Group horse."
