Aidan O'Brien won last year's renewal of the Bill Hanlon Memorial Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden with subsequent multiple Group 1 winner Paddington and his three runners finished 1-2-3 this time around led home by 9/2 chance Meriwether Lewis
Fifth at the Curragh on his only previous outing back in June, the blinkered American-bred raced in second and collared front-running favourite Kortez Bay inside the final furlong before holding stablemates Psalm and Agenda by three-parts of a length and a neck.
The winner was partnered by Seamie Hefferan and is owned by the Coolmore partners.
"The blinkers helped him wake up," said O'Brien of the winner.
"He is just a bit lazy. He will be a better horse over a mile and a half."
On Psalm ridden by Ryan Moore, he added: "Ryan's horse ran very well too. He just kept coming and coming. A Sea The Stars running over 7f; he will also improve when he is stepped up."
