We had a winning favourite to begin as action returned at Kilbeggan, 5/2 chance Dontbackme prevailing under Paddy Kennedy in the Follow Kilbeggan On Facebook Maiden Hurdle.
The Paul Fahey-trained and Loose Chippings Syndicate-owned Dontbackme jumped slickly through the extended two mile three furlong event.
Never far away, the successful Pushkin gelding kept up the gallop in the straight to see off Enzani and Glencairn View by a length and the same.
"He deserved that. He was second in this race last year, and then chipped two bones in his knee when fourth here. We nursed him back, and he'll go now for the charity race at Punchestown" explained Fahey.
"The (Loose Chippings) syndicate are from Nurney."
D.E. Splaine, rider of Sandycove Island trained by Ruaidhri Joseph Tierney, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was very free on the way to the start and in the early stages.
C.D. Maxwell, rider of St Edmunds trained by F.F.McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly.
