Aidan O’Brien landed another running of the Galileo Irish EBF Futurity Stakes as the 4/6 favourite Armory scored by three quarters of a length under Ryan Moore.
Andy Slattery’s Rebel Tale (50/1) was the surprise package of the race in second, with Geometrical (14/1) another length back in third place.
The winner, appropriately a son of Galileo, quickened up well to lead under two furlongs out, and from there was just doing enough to maintain his advantage over some staying-on rivals.
It was a thirteenth win in the Group 2 contest for winning trainer O’Brien, who commented afterwards: “We're delighted with him and he's coming along lovely and he learned a lot today.
“The plan was to come here and come back for the National Stakes. I couldn't be happier
“He's learning. He quickened well and that's what he does, which you would like
“We'll go to the National Stakes now with him and see from there.”
