After winning the first with Ramone Bill Farrell and Johnny Murtagh doubled up in the sixth, as At Boolavogue got up on the line to win the MSL Sandyford Handicap.

The four-year-old son of Invincible Spirit was placed around Leopardstown twice before, but he disappointed at the Foxrock venue three weeks ago today.

Sent off at 10/1 this evening, the bay colt was prominent throughout, and was second entering the straight as Midfield General attempted to assert.

At Boolavogue closed him down inside the final furlong, getting his head in front where it matters most, scoring by a short head.

Midfield General (8/1) had to settle for second under Kevin Manning for Jim Bolger, while Polished Rock (10/1) was a further length and a half back in third under Charlie Elliott for Jessica Harrington. The Black Devil (5/1) ran his usual consistent race, and he finished half a length back in fourth under Colin Keane for his father Ger, while the 9/2 favourite (backed from 10/1 this morning and from 7s on-course) Janna’s Jingle could only manage seventh for Tadgh O’Shea and Pat Shanahan.

Standing in the photograph Farrell quipped; “The world’s leading jockey with the world’s best trainer!”

He added: “I was afraid of the ground. I’ve been running him in kids races (apprentice races) but he needs a senior rider.

"He’ll go a little bit further and he’ll eventually go to the sales.”
