Robbie Power couldn't have wished for a better few months and was on the mark again in the Potts colours when Sizing Codelco ran out a game winner of the Palmerstown House Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase.
The Colin Tizzard-trained had run out a convincing winner at Aintree last time and struck again under top-weight in the €60,000 contest.
Power produced him to lead at the second last and he asserted on the run-in for a three-and-a-half length victory over Forever Gold
“He didn’t travel as well as he did at Aintree. The ground was a bit deeper today and he’s more of a good ground horse. We are only learning how good he is,” said Tizzard.
“I suppose we’ll look at the Hennessy as he’s that type of horse, and in the spring he could be a National horse.”
Power said:- “He was spectacular in Aintree and has done it the hard way here again. He's ground it out well again.
10/3 favourite The Crafty Butcher was pulled up after a bad mistake at the fourth fence.
