Rain soaked Punchestown was hit by a ferocious Willie Mullins-style storm today, with the Champion Trainer taking no less than four of the five races on the rescheduled card.
Mullins' dominance of the day was completed in the concluding At The Races Bumper when his Flash Of Genius (11/4f) eventually ran his rivals ragged in the testing ground, defeating runner-up Ok Oscar by 24 lengths. Winning jockey and Mullins' son Patrick Mullins was himself completing a double on the day.
Following Flash Of Genius's win, Mullins Snr, who didn't have any runner in the opening race, said “that was a bit of a surprise! We've had a few training problems with him and I haven't been able to train him too hard.
“I didn't know what to expect but he won a point to point on this sort of ground. He'll probably run in another bumper and might pitch up in the Rockview Bumper Final at The Curragh. He's another horse that we're looking forward to next season.”
