Whitey Mighty at Sligo again
Mighty Whitey who caused a 25/1 shock on his debut at this track back in May repeated the dose in the opening Northwest Maiden Hurdle at Sligo. The Sesaro gelding was held up this time in contrast to making virtually all on outing number one, to credit trainer Noel Kelly with his second winner.
A half brother to Irish Cesarewith heroine of 2005, Clara Allen, Might Whitey led before two out and though Ixora had a small chance when being carried out at the last, Bobby Molloy's winner (who wandered before the last himself) galloped on strongly to the line to beat Tadhg by twenty one lengths.
Kelly, who trains 5 horses at Draperstown Co. Derry said of his mother, Christina's four-year-old, carrying blinkers and a tongue-strap: "We wanted to make sure he settled today because if he done the same as the last day it might blow his mind and it could finish him with racing.
"He could maybe go to Galway now for a novice hurdle and he will probably need further in time."
Gamble of the contest Karkari could only manage third.
