One of Michael Halford's Meydan team, Wychwood Warrior, was back to do the business at Dundalk last week, and it was more of the same from the Copper Beech Stables operator, and rider Shane Foley, when Russian Soul made the Weatherbys Printing Race his own in no uncertain terms.
The well-backed 13/8 favourite came to challenge travelling well two furlongs out, leading over a furlong out, before going on to defeat Balmont Mast by a length and a half.
"He had the benefit of the sun on his back and he was fitter than some of them," reflected Halford.
"He loves turning and he came home in good form. He was very fresh after Dubai and he didn't get to do too much out there.
"He was really buzzing tonight. He'll go for all those Listed and Group 3 races now-ideally around a bend would suit him.
"It's nice to get another win. That'll do his confidence no harm after Dubai."
