Liberty's Gift justified the confidence of those that backed him in from an earlier 10/1, to 9/2, when landing Scarawalsh Apprentice Handicap at Wexford under Daniel Redmond.
Liberty's Gift was competing here in his first proper Flat race since third at Gowran in April 2014, and in gaining his fourth career win he overcame the fact that he appeared to get a bit lonely when in front inside the last.
The Statue Of Liberty seven-year found more though, when Crown Pleasure threatened, and there was half a length between them at the finish.
"He got a great ride and he got a nice toe into the race. He was a good bit higher on the Flat at one stage," reflected successful handler Paul Flynn.
"We kind of warmed him up on the Flat every year before going jumping, and here was the fittest he has been on the Flat for the last few years.
"He's just well-in for now, as he hasn't been running on the Flat and when he did he blew up. Hopefully there is another one of them in him and he might go over fences at Ballinrobe."
