Lady lands odds in opener
Jackonslady justified her short price in the opening mares novice hurdle at Down Royal.
The 4/5 favourite had to work for her victory, however, in the two-mile event under Ruby Walsh.
Philip Dempsey's charge hit the front turning for home but was soon tackled by Brave Beauty
Jackonslady started to edge the verdict before the final flight and was pulling away in good style on the run-in for a five-length success.
The win was a nice boost for Dempsey, who had broken his collarbone in four places in a schooling fall at the Curragh last weekend.
"Ruby said she handled the good ground so we'll keep her going over the summer and look for a novice hurdle," said the Carbury handler.
