Kilbarry Way (11/8) benefited from a strong Lisa O'Neill ride to send favourite backers home happy after the finale at Killarney, the Dorothy Henggeler Memorial, Meet The Roses (Ladies Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. Good Scent finished best after she needed to be switched out to deliver her challenge. The strong burst at the end from the Joseph O'Brien-trained newcomer wasn't quite enough though, and she failed by a neck to catch Kilbarry Way.
"She ran very well in Wexford and we were expecting a nice run but with Willie (Mullins) and Joseph (O'Brien) in the race it's not easy," said successful trainer, breeder and part-owner Con O'Keeffe.
"After her first run at Galway she got a kick in the paddock at home and was off for six months.
"We could go for a winners of one bumper now or go hurdling so we'll see. She is a big enough mare and would probably want a cut in the ground."
