Colin Keane opened up a gap of three in the jockeys' title race when World War gained a deserved win at Gowran, giving the jockey and trainer Ger Lyons a double on the day.
The son of Galileo and disqualified Guineas winner Jacqueline Quest cost 1.2 million guineas as a yearling but was winless in ten starts before today.
Keane jumped out in front on the 8/11 shot this afternoon and he kept on stoutly in the closing stages to record a length-and-a-half success.
World War had been placed in handicap company on his previous two outings and has an official rating of 92.
Shane Lyons said:- "He's going to the Newmarket Sales and is a genuine horse that will do a job for the other code. He's a fine big horse.
"We'll see how he comes out of this and there could be another race for him before that. It was a tough ask on that ground to make all."
