The Johnny Murtagh-trained Shanghai Dragon held the late charge of Any Dream Will Do to land the spoils in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap at Gowran Park.
Shane Kelly was keen to lead on the Dragon Pulse filly and asked her for an effort passing the two furlong pole.
The 12/1 shot proved a willing partner and repelled the finishing kick of Any Dream Will Do to record a neck victory in the mile contest.
The runner-up looked an unlucky loser as she found herself boxed in for most of the straight before flying home when getting a split in the closing stages.
Shanghai Dragon, in first time visor, had made no impression on her previous outing at Tipperary late last month.
Murtagh said:- “I thought being on 76 was a bad rating for her but the visor really helped her. The last day she missed the kick in Tipperary and never got into the race.
“We put the visor on her today and I said to Shane be brave, bunk her out as the pace is holding up all day here. I’m delighted for the owners who have been great supporters and 13 runs later she has finally won a race for us.
“She has always promised to do this and hopefully we will get another day out of her. She handles that ground.”
