Doctor takes advantage of light weight in nursery
A rise in the weights at declaration time brought Doctor Deejay into the handicap proper on 8st4lb in the nursery, and the Michael Halford-trained colt took advantage in a competitive mile event.
The majority of the 11 runners held some chance approaching the furlong pole but Shane Foley's mount kept on best to beat Aine Beag by a neck, with Rassi Maguire a length further away in third.
'He stays well and handles the ground, and it's nice to get Shane a winner as he still holds some chance in the apprentice championship,' said Halford.
Foley is now on the 17 winner mark, four behind apprentice title leader Emmet McNamara.
