Dandy Lichious opened his account at the tenth attempt when prominent throughout to land the Mourne Windows & Doors Claiming Race at Dundalk.
The Paul Flynn-trained gelding was sent off the well-backed 13/8 favourite having beaten all bar Mary Bagot over a mile here last Friday.
Robert Whearty ’s mount was ridden to lead around a furlong from home and kept on well to beat Masonbrook Meadow by a length. Cool Dan was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.
Whearty said, "Good run the last day, a good second.
"I actually worked him here a few weeks ago and I probably told Paul the surface isn't his preference so he is a horse, if he's not claimed, Paul will have plenty of fun with.
"He has a little bit of knee action to him, so I wouldn't be afraid of running him on ground with a bit of ease in it.
"He did that well there today - I thought I had the run of the race and it was just a pity I got there a little too soon. Things just fell apart a small bit."
Dandy Lichious was claimed for €7,000 by Carlisle trainer Tristan Davidson, while Dark Blue Diamond (sixth) joins John McConnell for €6,000.
