Davy Condon was seen at his strongest when getting Totally Couture home in the Mulholland Bookmakers Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.
The 11/2 chance struck the front three out but Condon was hard at work as a number of rivals threw down challenges entering the straight.
Barry Geraghty went for a daring move up the inner at the final flight on 5/4 favourite Enchanted Forest but Condon was alive to the manoeuvre and kept his mount going to hold that rival by half a length. Baby Grey (7/1) appeared to be travelling best approaching the home bend but could find no extra in the straight, and finished another two and a quarter lengths away in third.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott said, “It wasn’t the strongest race in the world but on his run at Navan (third in a maiden to Un Atout) last year he was entitled to go close. We’ll keep him going for the summer now, and he could run in Britain as well.”
