Again On Top in Moyglare
The betting suggested it was a match as they went 8/1 bar two and so it proved as Again survived a steward's enquiry before being confirmed the half length victor over Shimah in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.
Again was a definite leader a furlong out under Seamie Heffernan and she edged right inside the last causing the runner-up minimal interference. There was little surprise when the no alteration result of the enquiry was announced.
Triumphant trainer David Wachman said, "She's a nice filly and Seamie gave her a great ride. She is a filly for next year as she is still big and weak and she is going to be an exciting three-year-old. I feel sorry for Wayne (Lordan) who does all the work (he is suspended as is Johnny Murtagh). Seamie is a super-sub though.
"There is usually three weeks between the Debutante Stakes (the race she won at Leopardstown two weeks back) and this race but there was only a fortnight this year and I was very concerned about that, but it has worked out well."
Seamie Heffernan meanwhile commented: "She is very good and very genuine but is still a bit weak." Again is a general 10/1 chance now for next year's 1,000 Guineas whilst Shimah is a general 12s for the same event. (EM)
