There was something about Peter Fahey-trained mares going off at odds of 4/1 at Tipperary this evening with High Kicker bringing up a brace for the County Kildare trainer in the TipperaryRaces.ie Handicap.
Half-an-hour on from the success of her stable companion Jenniechild (4/1 second favourite) under Robbie Downey in the sprint handicap, well-backed High Kicker was really game in victory under Ronan Whelan.
Try as he might Easy Boy just couldn't get by the 4/1 joint market-leader and despite jumping over the mown strip finish line High Kicker got it done by a head.
Stable representative Gavin Lawlor said: "The Howards are great supporters of the yard and it's great to see them get some reward. The horses are running well and it's nice to see them back in form.
"We were hopeful as it looked like she had the form to win it."
Fahey himself is at the Derby Sale in Fairyhouse.
The Stewards fined Luke Comer, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Confidence (USA), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
The Stewards fined Paul W. Flynn, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a tongue tie to Rabbie The Bard (GB), prior to entering the parade ring.
W.J. Lee, rider of Sleepy Head trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference between the 4f and 31/2f mark.
L.F. Roche, rider of The Dack's Man trained by Kevin McDonagh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was never going.
