People crab him because of his jumping, but he has a huge kink in him - people never realised the job Paul Nicholls did with Denman, because he was the same. Both are chestnuts by Presenting, the best ones all have a kink, he has a massive engine. He's brilliant. He slipped taking off at the first down the back and when he landed I thought 'your luck could be in today'. Everything can't go your way all the time and you have to prepare for that. To get on the board is huge. To get on the board in a Grade One is better. It's good for Ruby and the whole team. We've had a hard few days, but that's the way it is and we take what we can get.

Reynolds/Kelly/Russell at it again
Pat Kelly is unbelievable, he has a 100 per cent strike-rate here. I gave my wife a present of this horse this time last year, hoping she could have as much fun as me. Davy is unbelievable around here, a master. We were very disappointed when the handicapper here gave us an extra 6lb after his win at Fairyhouse, we had to run that day and win to make sure we got in. I wasn't sure we needed another six, but maybe Phil is right. Sure enough, he is a very good horse. He is a horse going places and I'm looking forward to going chasing next year. Davy Russell was brilliant, he was out the back with him and gave him a chance and he came through to finish well. I'm very lucky to have a nice horse and a good owner that gives me a free hold on what to do with him to help him improve. He will keep improving. He won't run again this season. We will mind him for next year.

We've only got three horses with Willie. He's the horse of a lifetime, defeat last year in the Queen Mother to Sprinter Sacre hurt, but we're back with a bang now. Ruby is a genius because he lets him do his own thing, he doesn't panic. Our job is to pay the bills, they told us he'd stay and that was it. It all makes sense now. He was very keen, I was a little worried with his huge jump at the first but he got him settled. When he saw a line of fences he just went for them, but he sort of settled in front. For him, that's settled. He's an absolute iron horse, he's like that on the gallops every day, he wears his heart on his sleeve and I wonder how he can do it without wearing himself out. He's so hard on himself, so I'm trying to train him not to do that, this fellow has the button pressed the whole way, I don't know how he keeps the energy and keeps wanting to do it. Every time he needed a good jump he got one and I thought it would take something out of the others to catch him. He saved his best jump until last.

Meade's Respect continues great day for Irish
I didn't think he had much of a chance, but Bryan gave him a great ride, he was in the right place the whole way. Someone told me it's Noel's first win over fences here which just goes to show if you keep banging your head something will give. I thought we had three good chances to be in the money today, Disko was third (in the JLT), I was a little disappointed with Snow Falcon in the Stayers', and this fellow. I was telling a few people in Ireland I quite fancied him to be honest. I actually wanted to run in the RSA but Gigginstown had Alpha Des Obeaux in that and it makes sense the way the handicap was.

Book goes in at 40/1 in Kim Muir
It's unbelievable, it hasn't sunk in. I think it's as big a surprise to me as everyone else. He was recommended to me by a late friend who died a couple of weeks ago from Roger Brookhouse's. He ran OK at Leicester on his first run for me and we thought the further the better, so we put him in this and told Gina to be forceful on him and he just kept responding. I thought he was beat but she gave him a smack and he's always behind the bridle, the blinkers did their job. I came here thinking if he finished mid-div we'd do OK!
