Review wexford 23rd Jul
It proved a red-letter day for jockey Shane Crimin at Wexford, as he notched the first winner of his career in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle.
The 19-year-old rider always had Oliver McKiernan's charge to the fore, and took up the running before the turn for home as the pacesetting Siberion cried enough.< Respectueux loomed as a danger to the 8-1 winner, but he stuck to his task well for Crimin and scored by five lengths.< Dirty Den made almost all to see off his rivals and cause an upset in the www.wexfordraces.ie Maiden Hurdle.
Sean McDermott had the 25-1 chance in a clear lead passing the stands on the first occasion and though there seemed to be plenty of challengers queuing up to challenge, Jeanette Riordan's charge fought them all off, beating Irish Elk by a length and three-quarters.
Tom Foley's Isobella Blue made the frame for the first time when second at Downpatrick and went one better in the Coolcotts Handicap Hurdle.
Tim Carroll didn't have to get too animated on the 5-1 joint favourite in the home straight, as the grey drew clear in good style to beat fellow market leader Adropaupep by 11 lengths.< Deputy Consort (9-2) proved the strongest in the first division of the Poolcourt Ltd. Beginners Chase, staying on strongly after the last to beat I Am Great by eight lengths.
The second division produced a closer finish as Vital Plot battled well to score.
The -1 chance looked to be booked for second as Goban Saor went clear approaching the last, but as that rival's stride shortened, Barry O'Connell got a great tune out of the winner, scoring by seven lengths.
Denis Cullen's 5-1 chance Onzo Mor came out on top in the St. Patrick's Rock Handicap Chase, while the Rosslare Harbour Handicap Chase went the way off Shark Hanlon 's 11-1 chance Don't Stop Me Now
