Review punchestown 5th Feb
< Douvan delivered another brilliant performance to stretch his unbeaten record to 14 in the Boylesports Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown.
Willie Mullins' superstar led after the first fence and then didn't see a rival, with Ruby Walsh virtually motionless in the saddle throughout.
The 1-14 favourite cruised down the straight, skipping over the last en route to a six-and-a-half-length defeat of Realt Mor with Draycott Place the only other finisher after Smashing pulled up four out.
Mullins' The Crafty Butcher was favourite for the Pertemps Network Group Handicap Hurdle, only to come down, but the champion trainer still won the race with Isleofhopendreams
The 11-2 shot was produced to challenge by Danny Mullins at the last and quickened nicely to account for Sutton Manor by two and a quarter lengths.
Banks master Enda Bolger took the P.P. Hogan Memorial Cross Country Chase but it was with 9-2 chance Auvergnat with his 7-4 favourite Colour Squadron only fourth.< Mick Jazz (7-1) burst the Cilaos Emery bubble in the I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle.
Cilaos Emery traded at single figures for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle before this Listed contest and moved to the front shortly after the second-last, but Mick Jazz went with him and battled that little bit harder to prevail by a neck.
Last year's racinguk.com/freetrial Grand National Trial Handicap Chase runner-up Baie Des Isles ran out an impressive all-the-way winner this time.
Katie Walsh was happy to bowl along at the head of affairs on the 8-1 chance, who jumped and galloped them ragged and saw out the three and a half miles stoutly to go in by four and three-quarter lengths from Sambremont with 2016 winner Bonny Kate third.< Velocity Boy (9-4) also made every post a winning one in the Michael Fitzpatrick Memorial Beginners Chase, while Gordon Elliott followed up Mick Jazz's success when Oakley Hall (9-4) took the Goffs Punchestown Festival Invitational Sale (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
