Review naas 11th Mar
< Flemenstar cemented his position as one of the most exciting young prospects in Ireland with an outstanding display of jumping to land the Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase at Naas.
In the absence of Rathlin only three went to post for the two-and-a-half-mile contest and Flemenstar was sent off the 10-11 joint-favourite with his Navan conqueror Bog Warrior who took them along until halfway.
Andrew Lynch sent Flemenstar on at that point and Peter Casey's charge took lengths out of his market rival at every obstacle. With Bog Warrior fading badly after the second-last, Frisco Depot took second, but he was five and a half lengths away at the line.
The Jim Culloty-trained Lord Windermere got back in the winning groove after being beaten in Grade One company last time as he stamped his class on the www.naasracecourse.com Novice Hurdle.
The 5-2 joint-favourite led approaching the final flight under Tom Doyle and kept on too well for market rival Ballynacree to whom he was conceding nearly a stone, scoring by three lengths.< Paddy Pub won a hurdles race at the track a fortnight ago for Kieran Purcell and repeated the trick when returned to fences in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Leinster National, even though he was 5lb out of the handicap.
Pat Mangan, who claimed 3lb off that, took it up five fences out and made the best of his way home on the 10-1 shot, holding Arabella Boy by a length and three-quarters.
John Kiely's Up For The Match (4-1 favourite) was raised 16lb for winning at Gowran last month, but it didn't stop him clearing away after the last to take the Naas Supporters Handicap Hurdle by four and a quarter lengths under Alan Crowe.< Great Value (25-1) looked to have it all to do turning into the straight, but Dessie Hughes's charge kept finding for Declan Bates and led on the run-in to take the Follow Naas On Facebook Beginners Chase by four lengths.
