< Sword Fish speared the most valuable prize on the third day of the Listowel Festival when winning the Listowel Races Supporters Club Lartigue Hurdle in the colours of JP McManus.

Alan Crowe urged Sword Fish (14-1) ahead of Leblon at the final flight and the blinkered four-year-old had just enough ammunition to stay in front, eventually winning by half a length.< Defining Year showed promise on his introduction at the Curragh last month and built on that with a convincing success in the Jet O'Carroll Memorial Median Auction Maiden.< Gold Post took it up going to the final furlong, but Garry Carroll swept past on the Mick Halford-trained 7-2 co-favourite with 150 yards left to score by a length and three-quarters.< Charpoy looked to have made a winning move when he took the lead late on in the Listowel Arms Hotel EBF Maiden, but he was swamped in the shadow of the post and finished only third.
Leading the late-chargers was the Kevin Prendergast-trained newcomer Rising Wind (20-1), who won by a head in the hands of Chris Hayes from another of the fast-finishers, Obligation Charpoy was another head away.
Pat Smullen had plenty of horse under him going to the final furlong of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Handicap and when he pressed the button, Dermot Weld's Hallie's Comet (11-2 favourite) surged clear to score by four lengths.
Smullen quickly made it a double when John Coleman's vastly improved Sean Og Coulston (5-1) got back in the winning groove with a stylish success in the Brandon Hotel Handicap.
The six-year-old rapidly went clear after brushing Thats A Fret aside in the straight, before holding Dundrum Dancer by a length and three-quarters.
There was desperately tight finish to the Kerry Petroleum Handicap Chase and Davy Russell just forced Aidan Howard's Ihaventabob (7-1) up on the line to deny Flying Johnny M by a sho
