Preview fairyhouse 15th Apr
The females take centre-stage on the fourth and final day of the valuable Fairyhouse meeting, with the Ashbourne Mares' Chase the feature race.
Carrigeen Kalmia landed the inaugural running 12 months ago and bids to repeat the dose, but she has been well below par since a fine second to War Of Attrition at Thurles in November.
The obvious winner would appear to be Moskova, who barely had to break sweat to beat the reopposing Leanne, Rory's Sister and Brotenstown in a Grade Three novice event at Limerick.
The potential fly in the ointment is Laetitia, who has not raced in public since August 2007 but has some eyecatching form in the book from that year.
Action gets under way at 2.30 with the Ballyhack Maiden Hurdle, for which Dermot Weld's New Phase is likely to start at prohibitive odds.
The Flat/bumper winner found only Head Of The River too good first time out over timber in October and that one has since run with credit in Listed company.
The Ratoath Maiden Hurdle seems more competitive, with Drive On Regardles and the consistent Erritt Lake sure to be on the premises when it matters.
Course and distance runner-up Presenting Thyne is also entitled to make a splash, while Bootlegger let down favourite-backers in a handicap at Naas but returns to maiden company with sound claims.
Panzer Chief carries top weight in the Eimer Hannon Travel Handicap Hurdle and should not be far away if repeating last month's Limerick second to Pontiac, but Tony Martin's Meadows Thyne is worth bearing in mind towards the opposite end of the handicap.< Shan't Complain had Battlehill back in fourth when second at Gowran recently and can confirm the form in the Broad Meadow Beginners Chase, but Noel Meade's Jewson casualty Jaamid looks the one to beat.
Course winner Mustangsallyrally is a leading player in the Royal County Handicap Chase and the concluding Dunshaughlin INH Flat Race could be best left to Whispering Hills, barring strong market support elsewhere.
