Review downpatrick 29th Mar

Sun 29th Mar 2009, 18:10

Brian Hamilton's decision to run Oh So Humbel at his local track paid off with victory in the Toals Bet On Goals Galore Hurdle.

The Downpatrick trainer almost withdraw the seven-year-old because of doubts about the quick ground.

However, Oh So Humbel (13-2) handled the conditions well, making all under 5lb claimer Andrew Thornton to beat Fairwood Bob by four lengths.

"I was going to withdraw Oh So Humbel because of the fast ground but had a rethink at the last minute," said Hamilton.

"He has a high knee action which has given him ligament trouble in the past.

"Oh So Humbel has only one way of running, from the front, and will run at Fairyhouse next."< Azana (4-1) showed his appreciation for fast ground with a length and a quarter verdict over Nazdaq in the Visit Toals.co.uk Handicap Hurdle.

"Azana goes on good ground but likes quick ground. He may run in another handicap at Gowran on Wednesday," said trainer Pat Fahy.

The Oliver McKiernan trained Any Bets (5-2) rewarded favourite backers with a four-length win under Ruby Walsh in the Toals 'Dial A Bet' 90321721 Novice Handicap Hurdle.

McKiernan's assistant Adrian Keatley said: "Any Bets will probably go to Fairyhouse next for another handicap hurdle, he likes fastish ground."
