Young Angel left behind a disappointing run at Sligo last month when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden at Listowel today on her third start for trainer Dermot Weld and owners Ballylinch Stud.
Ridden by Oisin Orr, the daughter of Dark Angel today nipped up the inside of eventual runner-up Even Flow inside the final furlong to eventually score a neck win, on her third run.
Orr, winner of last September's Irish St Leger on Weld's Search For A Song, later commented “I rode for a bit of luck. The last day in Sligo she ran free and hung as she was on the wide outside.
“She got a lovely run around today and the gaps opened with I needed them and she hit the line well. She had a good run first time out, had excuses the last day and I think she will definitely come on from that.”
