Word For Word gave Eddie Lynam a double at Dundalk when taking the concluding extended mile and two furlong handicap with Shane Foley in the saddle.
The 3/1 second favourite fought out a final furlong battle with old adversary Hawkswood the 11/4 favourite who was looking for a hat-trick of wins.
Eddie Lynam said: “He has been up here every Friday. It’s always good to win with a character. They went a good gallop there.
“To be fair to Shane he thought he should have won last time. He could run in a charity race on Tuesday which will be a shock to him!”
The winning distance was a length and a half. It was a length back to The Fonze in third at 8/1.
