Whisper takes opener for McCreery
The opening three year old hurdle at Killarney this evening was claimed by the Willie McCreery trained Whisper Cool in the hands of Barry Cash.
Cash produced the 7/2 shot to lead before the last and the pair kept on well for a length and three parts win over Toyshop
Winning trainer McCreery said afterwards: “I’m delighted with that, we bought him out of Ger Lyons and Ger said he was a decent horse.”
“He did it well, he ran in snatches. He has some good form on the flat and he hasn’t been over-exposed.”
“He’ll be a dual purpose horse and we won’t be over hard on him as he’s a light framed horse.”
The 11/10 favourite Wijikura weakened quickly before the last second and was soon trailing.
