Wellington Hill justified good support for the mother and son team of Mags and Danny Mullins when getting up on the line to land the Golf Memberships At Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle.

The Yeats gelding, available at 11/1 this morning and further supported on track from 11/2 into 4/1, needed to dig deep to come out of top in this 2m4f event.

He was switched left after two out as easy-to-back 9/4 favourite Riaan hit the front but responded gamely to Danny Mullins’ strong urgings on the run-in to get up right on the line.

A short-head was the winning margin with the always prominent Carrig Rock five and a half lengths back in third.

Mags Mullins said, “I'm delighted with him. He had a wind op last year and he's had three runs since, he's improved every day since he came back from it.

“He's really a chaser in the making, he's from a good family and they were all chasers.

“He's a nice horse and he's getting there the whole time. He needed every yard of that and he's just coming to himself. All the family don't come to themselves until late.”
