Markhan was the heavily backed winner of the www.listowelraces.ie Median Auction Maiden at Listowel today, winning for trainer David Marnane and jockey Colm O’Donoghue.
The son of Birdstone was backed from 7/1 this morning and 7/2 on track into 5/2 second favourite and in the end scored a ready five and a half lengths win over Laburnum Park
Marnane wasn’t present but O’Donoghue later commented “David (Marnane) always said he worked nicely at home and the addition of a tongue-tie was a big help.
“He got into a good rhythm and started to breathe properly.
“I’m not sure how strong a contest it was but it was beautiful ground and everyone here (ground staff) does a good job.”
