Zannda showed her battling qualities when edging ahead of Torcedor to land the Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown by a head.
The heavily-backed 5/4 favourite (from 11/4 in the morning and an opening show of 13/8) gave Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen a double on the card as they took the preceding race with debutant Tirmizi
Zannda made good headway with less than a quarter of a mile to travel in this 10 furlong contest. In the final furlong it boiled down to two horses - Torcedor and herself.
Pat Smullen was in the drive position on the inside of Torcedor and Zannda got her head in front close home and maintained that lead to the line.
Torcedor (10/3) took a runner-up prize for David Wachman and Wayne Lordan. Princess Aloof was two and a quarter lengths off this battle in third at 25/1.
Dermot Weld said: "She's a battler and at stages in the race it got a bit tight. The plan is to keep her in training next year and we'll try to win more Group races with her."
Zannda won a Group Three in Cork on her last appearance in August.
