Wee Pablo made it two wins from his last three starts with a decisive success in the Congratulations To Minella Times & Freewheelin Dylan Handicap at Listowel.
The 100/30 joint favourite headed pace-setting fellow market leader Lord Dudley over a furlong out and kept on strongly under Dylan Browne McMonagle to beat that rival by two lengths. Phantom Power was a further half a length adrift in third.
Winning trainer Pat Martin said, “He’s tiny and is very well named. We had considered going to the Curragh last Wednesday as he’d run well there before but a 30-runner race there takes a lot of winning and then the ground dried out.
“This race suited him well. We knew Kieran Cotter’s horse would go fast and that kind of set it up for us. He gets seven well and an ease in the ground suits him.
“He’s not a horse that will carry big weights but he’s tough. He’s not entered in the short term so we’ll give him a few weeks and anywhere there is a bit of an ease in the ground he should be effective.”
