Watson retired on a high
John Kiely's yard is in irresistible form at present, and the Dungarvan trainer made it five winners in the past ten days when mum-to-be Ella Watson scored under Ruby Walsh in the two and a half miles handicap hurdle.
The daughter of Supreme Leader rallied under pressure for the champion to regain the lead from Ephorus just before the final flight, and kept on well on the run-in to beat that rival by a length and a quarter.
“She's a well bred mare and is in foal to Milan. She will be retired to the paddocks now, and hopefully will produce something nice for the next generation,” said Kiely.
