Walsh doubles up up North
Jockey Mark Walsh recorded a double at Downpatrick today, completing his brace on the Dot Love trained Liberty Counsel in the Danone Maiden Hurdle, having earlier partnered Fine Call to win the opening event.
Walsh, partnering his tenth winner of the season, rode Liberty Counsel with plenty of patience, eventually producing the mare to lead inside the final furlong, for a length and three parts win over Rocket Boy
Mullingar based Love later stated “Liberty Counsel definitely needs good ground and we'll trip to win another small race again now. She is owned by two sisters from Mullingar, Helen Murtagh and Irene Neale (whose late husband Ber was the previous owner).”
