Waitingfortheday continued her remarkable progression when landing the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary.
The Elzaam filly joined Joseph O’Brien early last year and, having been beaten on her opening handicap start off a mark of 57, was scoring here for the seventh time.
Donnacha O’Brien produced her with a well-timed run to collar Skitter Scatter close home for a half-length verdict at odds of 6/1.
Skitter Scatter was sent off the 5/2 favourite on her first run since a disappointing effort in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and shaped well here under Ronan Whelan. Hells Babe was a further half-length back in third.
Donnacha O’Brien said, “She completely stops when she gets to the front so it’s hard to know how good she is. Even today I was in front for a stride and she stopped but she obviously has loads of ability.
“Because she does so little it’s hard for the handicapper and us to get a handle on just how good she is. She’s still improving and hopefully she can continue.
“It worked out nicely that the filly I had to beat was the one that I ended up beside.”
